Actors Mary Chieffo and Sam Witwer join Star Trek Online for Klingon-focused House Reborn
JANUARY 26, 2021 - Yesterday, we brought you news of the launch of Star Trek Online’s 11th Anniversary event, packed with minigames, prizes and great Klingon content. But in addition to the new event ship, lockbox and recruitment event, they’ve also released two brand-new featured story episodes, featuring a heavyweight cast. The update is called Star Trek Online: House Reborn.
For the first time since Star Trek Online began featuring Star Trek: Discovery content, actor Mary Chieffo will voice her Discovery character, L’Rell. L’Rell is joined in the game by her son, Tenavik, voiced by actor Sam Witwer (Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) in the role originated by Kenneth Mitchell.
Here’s what Star Trek Online has to say about the action in the episodes, called “Knowledge is Power” and “Leap of Faith”:
“After the Klingon Empire broke apart in House Shattered, J’Ula, matriarch of House Mo’Kai, travels to the sacred planet of Boreth. Plagued with guilt, she tracks down Tenavik [...] with hopes that he can lead her to enlightenment. The journey won't be an easy one, however. Players will be tasked with guiding J’Ula along her spiritual voyage, one where she will not only have to face ghosts of the past, present and future, but also descend into the pits of the Klingon underworld Gre’thor itself. There she will seek guidance from L'Rell. [...] Captains will also reunite with General Martok (played by J.G Hertzler from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Adet’Pa (voiced by Rekha Sharma from Star Trek: Discovery) and Aakar (played by Robert O’Reilly from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).”
In addition to the two brand-new episodes, the new update completes the full overhaul of all Klingon-exclusive content as promised in the “Year of Klingon” initiative. Players can also get a free Discovery uniform (for a limited time), and for those of you ship enthusiasts out there, there are visual updates to the popular Ambassador and Narendra-class ships.
