NIVEMBER 30, 2023 - As a Star Trek fan you probably know Anthony Rapp for his beautiful performance as Paul Stamets in Star Trek: Discovery. However, before he got cast as the enthusiastic astromycologist, he was a Broadway star. He played the role of  Mark Cohen in the original cast of Rent. Working with the incredible Johnathan Larson himself.

Rapp wrote a musical memoir titled Without You based on a book he wrote sporting the same title. The show premiered in Pittsburg in 2008 and since then it has played in New York, Edinburgh Fringe, London, and more. Now, Without You is going to Boston’s Wimberly Theater from April 2nd through April 14th. You can purchase tickets here.

I won’t go in depth about the musical, (if you want an in-depth review you can read our previous article covering the show) however here’s a quick promo for anyone in the Boston area considering seeing it (you totally should).  The show mostly covers his time before, during, and after working on Rent, his journey from a broke Starbucks barista to the star of a genre-defining Broadway musical, balancing his personal life, familial struggles, and a budding career. 

I highly recommend you go see this musical if you are in the Massachusetts area. I promise it will be worth your time.
