Boston's Museum of Science seeking donations for Leonard Nimoy monument

MARCH 3, 2022 - It was seven years last Sunday, February 27, that Leonard Nimoy died. Apart from remembering where you were when you heard the news, memorializing Star Trek’s OS (Original Spock) has also been a goal in the city of Boston, where Nimoy was born. Last year we told you about the official announcement by the Boston Museum of Science and the Nimoy family that a statue of the Vulcan hand salute was in development.
The Museum of Science has been seeking donations to fund the project, and as of this writing, they are at $29,269 or 3% of the $1,000,000 goal. Also last Sunday, TrekMovie noted a gift to be given to one lucky donor. From the personal collection of Leonard’s daughter, Julie, the LLAP (live long and prosper) pendant that was launched into space last December aboard a Blue Origin vehicle will be given away in a random drawing. The pendant will also come with a certificate from the flight and a copy of the documentary, Remembering Leonard Nimoy, signed by Julie Nimoy.
Beginning on Leonard Nimoy’s birthday, March 26, and running through 2022, donations of $5 or more qualify for the drawing, which will take place in early 2023.
