BREAKING: 'Star Trek: Prodigy' Moves to Netflix After Paramount+ Cancelation
OCTOBER 11, 2023 - Earlier this year Paramount dropped Star Trek: Prodigy along with a number of other shows. Since then Prodigy has been searching for a new home. Many fan campaigns took place including an air message. All that hard work and campaigning has finally paid off. Prodigy has officially been picked up by Netflix! According to the Press release, Star Trek: Prodigy season one will be moving to Netflix later in 2023 and season 2, which is currently in production, will air on Netflix sometime early 2024.
Executive producer Alex Kurtzman and co-showrunners Dan and Kevin Hageman thanked fans in a heartwarming message sent out mid-day on October 11th.
“Thank you to our incredible Star Trek: Prodigy fans, who championed not just a show, but a community that’s always been connected by the belief that we build a better future together. We set out to inspire you, but you inspired us. The team is still hard at work on the second season, and we can’t wait to share it with the amazing fans around the world.”
Kate Mulgrew, the voice of Admiral Janeway, also had a message for fans:
“I've always held that the Star Trek fan base is among the strongest and most intelligent in the world. They have shown their collective passion, and we’re happy to be able to celebrate Prodigy once again”
We here at DSTN are ecstatic about the news and cannot wait to see how the future of Prodigy unfolds.
