Build your own giant model of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s U.S.S. Enterprise-D with new subscription from Eaglemoss

DECEMBER 9, 2020 - Hey so who wants a giant, incredibly-detailed model of the Enterprise-D, with working lights and everything? Because thanks to the latest announcement from Eaglemoss, now you can have one. Well, in a few years!

Eaglemoss, the makers of the Star Trek Starships Collection and numerous other models and replicas, have announced that pre-orders are now available for their latest subscription service, Build the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. It’s a die-cast metal replica of the Federation’s flagship from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and when you subscribe, you’ll get it piece by piece, eventually building it into a model spanning over 27”. The finished product has working lights, a detachable saucer section, and a display stand.

So how does it work? Starting in March of 2021, you’ll get four kits a month, including a magazine packed with instructions and special features. According to Eaglemoss, “The building process is incredibly straightforward. All the pieces are pre-painted, with all the decals in place. You simply clip or screw them together. There’s no need for any glue and you won’t need any tools that are more complicated than a screwdriver.”

Like previous Eaglemoss collections, you can expect to lay out a fair bit of cash by the end of the program. There are 120 total kits in the collection, which at the rate of four per month, will span about 2-½ years. Each kit costs $12.90, plus $2.45 shipping, so completing the entire model will set you back more than $1,800. There are some special offers to sweeten the deal if you order early, however. There’s a risk-free trial offer, where you’ll get the first two kits for just $4.95 each, with free shipping. The first 500 pre-orders will also receive two free exclusive pin badges.
