Canada man builds 16-foot replica Enterprise from Star Trek, features it in his Christmas lights display

A Canada man is delighting his neighbors with a festive starship Enterprise this holiday season.

Global News Canada reports that Martin Ahern, of Moncton, New Brunswick, spent days putting together a display of Christmas lights this year. The display, which includes a towering tree with nearly 3,000 individual lights, also features a stunning, 16-foot long replica of the starship Enterprise from Star Trek. According to the Global News piece, Ahern spent eight months crafting the wooden ship by hand. The ship is fully lit with custom-programmed lights, and mounted high so it seems to be hovering above his yard.

Ahern said of the project, “I tried to program it close to the original with the original colours. The saucer is in four sections and everything comes apart because you can’t build that all in one piece in the house.”

The reaction from his neighbors seems to be positive: the children on his block named Ahern “neighbour of the year”. Ahern himself seems pleased about the warm reception to his creation. He said, “It’s gratifying to see that people appreciate it.”
