Set roughly two decades before the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Infinite allows players to lead one of the four major galactic factions: the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. This game plunges players into the heart of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, offering a dynamic gameplay experience filled with intricate decision-making challenges. With utmost fidelity to the Star Trek lore, it introduces new exploration avenues, complex economic systems, and interaction with enigmatic civilizations.

Star Trek: Infinite boasts not only a rich storytelling and deep strategic gameplay but also provides multiple paths to victory through diplomacy, espionage, warfare, or a combination of all. The game lets players recruit iconic characters such as Captains Picard, Janeway, Sisko, and Data among others while leading the Federation. Other factions also offer their iconic characters to enlist, expanding the Star Trek narrative in this grand strategy format. Moreover, players will have access to a diverse range of starships from the Star Trek universe, tailored to each faction's arsenal. Notably, the U.S.S. Enterprise-D can be developed and added to the Federation fleet, further enriching the gameplay.

Built upon the core systems of Stellaris, Star Trek: Infinite leverages these systems while streamlining and simplifying some aspects to resonate better with the Star Trek franchise.
