Comic series Star Trek: Picard: Stargazer will bridge the gap between seasons 2 and 3 of Picard
MAY 22, 2022 - IDW Publishing, known for producing Star Trek content with compelling storylines and stunning artwork, has revealed Star Trek: Picard: Stargazer. Thanks to a report from comicbook.com, we have a few details on the new three-part comic series bridging the gap between the second and third seasons of Picard.
Here is a brief synopsis of what to expect from Stargazer: “Embark on a never-before-seen journey set between seasons two and three of the Paramount+ hit series Star Trek: Picard! After a tantalizing offer to return among the stars arises, Captain Jean Luc-Picard takes to the bridge of the U.S.S. Stargazer. But when trouble rears its head on a once peaceful, pre-warp planet from his past, Picard enlists the help of an old friend.”
In response to a fan’s question, Picard showrunner Terry Matalas recently let it slip on Twitter that “slightly over a year” will pass (in universe) between seasons two and three. That gives Stargazer plenty of room to fit into the lives of our heroic crew. With the entire main cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation due to return to screens in season three of Picard, and numerous current Picard cast members who are not returning, we just may get a chance to see how it all comes together.
Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson, who authored the audio drama Star Trek: Picard: No Man’s Land featuring Michelle Hurd and Jeri Ryan, have joined forces once again to write Stargazer. Story art for the comic series was created by Angel Hernandez. Four covers will be available for the first issue of Stargazer, each created by a different artist. The covers will feature work from Angel Hernandez, Megan Levens, Liana Kanga, and a fourth cover only available from the IDW store.
The first issue of Star Trek: Picard: Stargazer will be available to purchase beginning August 24th, 2022.
