Creation Entertainment announces 3 new regional conventions featuring Star Trek celebrities
DECEMBER 4, 2020 - Good news for Star Trek convention fans: the 55-Year Mission is going on the road. A piece from TrekNews.net reported yesterday that Creation Entertainment, the organizers of the convention formerly known as Star Trek Las Vegas, have announced a slew of new regional conventions in 2021, all already confirmed to feature Star Trek stars.
It’s been a rollercoaster of a year for Creation Entertainment; the Official Star Trek Las Vegas Convention was pushed back earlier this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, as we neared the new December date (at the new Caesar’s Forum venue), the organizers were forced to delay the event to 2021, a move that coincided with the announcement that it would no longer be officially licensed by CBS.
Now Creation Entertainment have announced the addition of three new conventions to their 2021 lineup. The new “Sci-Fi Summits” as they’re being called, will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia; Edison, New Jersey; and Jacksonville, Florida. TrekNews.net says the events will be headlined by William Shatner and will include cast members from several Star Trek series. They’re not just Star Trek conventions though: while Creation says they’ll be using the cons to celebrate Star Trek’s 55th Anniversary, as well as Gene Roddenberry’s 100th birthday, they’ll also include stars from other top television shows, including The Boys, The Mandalorian, The Umbrella Academy, and other shows that start with “The”.
The first Sci-Fi Summit, in Vancouver, is scheduled for July 16 - 18, 2021 at the Westin Bayshore. Headline guests include Denise Crosby, Gates McFadden and John de Lancie from Star Trek: The Next Generation; Isa Briones, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Del Arco, Marina Sirtis and Michelle Hurd from Star Trek: Picard; and Anthony Rapp, Doug Jones, Mary Wiseman, James Frain, and Shazad Latif from Star Trek: Discovery.
Then in New Jersey, the Sci-Fi Summit is scheduled for September 10 - 12, 2021 at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center in Edison. In addition to guests from Star Trek, the New Jersey show will also include guests from The Orville, including Mark Jackson, Scott Grimes, and Penny Johnson Jerald.
Finally, also scheduled for September 10 - 12 next year, the Sci-Fi Summit will be taking place in Jacksonville, Florida, at the Hyatt Regency. In addition to other stars, the Jacksonville summit will feature Max Grodenchik, Casey Biggs, Jeffrey Combs, Vaughn Armstrong and Ethan Phillips, indicating a Star Trek Rat Pack performance could be on the schedule.
