Paramount+’s launch in the UK is imminent, but it will not include every Star Trek episode

JUNE 2, 2022 - Star Trek fans have waited for Paramount+ to release in their country longer than it took for V’Ger to return to Earth. When it was announced last month that it was finally set to beam into British and Irish homes on June 22 of this year, there was much rejoicing. But just because our friends across the pond are getting the streaming service, it doesn’t follow that they will get to stream all of Star Trek. At least not immediately.

According to TrekCore.com, the UK arm of Paramount+ has announced that the initial launch will include all four seasons of Star trek: Discovery and the first ten episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy, but only the first three episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and no mention of Star Trek: Lower Decks or Star Trek: Picard. Following the launch, SNW will continue to air weekly, with episodes dropping in the UK five weeks after they premiere in the US.

It’s likely that this is just an initial launch strategy and the other shows will either stagger their premieres on the service or appear all at once after Paramount Global has a chance to look at the viewer numbers. Even so, it’s a bitter disappointment to fans in those countries who were looking forward to bingeing (legally) all that Trek has to offer. Hopefully their wait won’t be too much longer, but stayed tuned to Daily Star Trek News and we’ll keep you in the loop as new announcements are made.
