Fall asleep with Sir Patrick Stewart, with a new bedtime story in Moshi Twilight
Sir Patrick Stewart has lent his voice to an audio app for kids, aimed at helping them get to sleep.
In a press release last week, app developer Mind Candy announced that they launched an exclusive new sleep story narrated by Stewart in their Moshi Twilight app, which they note is the world’s #1 sleep and relaxation audio app for kids. The story is called “Patrick the Performing Moshling”, and it’s a rhyming story about a character not unlike Stewart himself, who is on a mission to “calm his busy mind at bedtime”. The story is fully orchestrated, and, according to Mind Candy, “specially crafted to induce sleep using calming music, increasingly mellow narration and sleepy themes”. Oh, and one can’t ignore Stewart’s soothing baritone.
Fans of the veteran Star Trek actor will note many references in the story to real parts of Stewart’s life, like Shakespeare and Star Trek. He joins other stars such as Goldie Hawn and Brian Blessed, who have previously narrated stories for the app.
Ian Chambers, CEO of Mind Candy, said, “We are thrilled that Sir Patrick has narrated this very special story. It sounds incredible, and Patrick’s rich, authoritative performance is totally magical.” He adds that part of the motivation behind the story is to help children with special needs. “We are now learning that our sleep stories are benefiting children with additional needs, such as autism and ADHD, which is why this particular story focuses on a character with a busy bedtime mind.”
Moshi Twilight, which is based on the world of Moshi Monsters, is available to download for free from the App Store or on Google Play. However, you may be required to sign up for a membership to access Stewart’s story. I was able to sign up for a week’s free trial on iOS, and the membership thereafter will be $34.99 yearly.
