Filming Begins on SECTION 31 Film
Paramount just announced that production has officially begun in Toronto for the much anticipated Section 31 movie. Filming will probably continue for the next 6 weeks, ending around March 13th.
We’ve known for a while that the movie will star Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, however with the start of filming Paramount also released the cast list. Other people joining the cast include Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao. We don’t know who exactly each of these people are playing, however they’re all fairly well known actors. Omari Hardwick is known for his role as protagonist James “Ghost” St. Patrick in Starz’s Power; Kacey Rohl is known for her work on the hit TV show Hannibal as Abagail Hobbs; Sam Richardson plays Edwin Akufo in Ted Lasso; Sven Ruygrok is known for his work as Rambo in the film franchise Spud; Robert Kazinsky is best known for his role as Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim; and James Hiroyuki Liao is best known for his role as Albert Nguyen in Barry.
Other people working on the film include Craig Sweeny (writer and producer) and Olatunde Osunsanmi (director and executive producer). Other executive producers include Alex Kurtzman, Craig Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Eugene Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Michelle Yeoh.
The official plot summary for the film goes as follows:
Emperor Philippa Georgiou, joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past.
