Full Sail University graduate student chosen for Star Trek Command Training Program

Candice Lewis is one of two lucky students chosen by the Television Academy Foundation

AUGUST 5, 2022 - Every year the Television Academy Foundation chooses a handful of students to intern with them, learning the ins and outs of television production. In 2019, they partnered with CBS Studios to offer a unique opportunity, open to undergraduate and graduate students. They call it the Star Trek Command Training Program, and they’ve just announced this year’s winner.

Full Sail University graduate student Candice Lewis says she is honored to have been chosen. “My late grandmother is my inspiration for a career in telecision,” she adds.. “She was the family story sharer, and she would tell stories of the rich history and culture that would stick with me through my life. My hope is to one day match her greatness.”

According to a press release, Candice, who recently graduated with an MFA in Film Production, will soon begin an eight-week, paid internship program, which “champions the core values of inclusion, access and opportunity and is designed to provide a 360-degree immersion in the production process of the Star Trek universe. Selected interns are actively engaged in writers’ rooms, wardrobe design, on-set production, animation, and post-production on Los Angeles-based programs.”

Please join us at DSTN in congratulating Candice on her achievement. We wish her well. If you’d like to learn more about the program, you can check it out here.
