MAY 6, 2021 - This week, Hero Collector Books released the latest installment in the Star Trek Shipyards encyclopedia series, Star Trek: The Borg and the Delta Quadrant: Akritirian to Krenim. SYFY WIRE brought us a preview of the new book, which takes the reader through every ship in the Delta Quadrant. Well...up until Krenim. 

The book is the first of a two-volume set. Volume one will take you on an alphabetical journey through each Delta Quadrant vessel. On the “mission” of the book, editor Ben Robinson told SYFY WIRE, “What we wanted to do is give people full CG renders of every ship that’s ever appeared on any of the shows." With a focus on the Delta Quadrant, it’s no surprise that nearly all of the ships featured were seen on Star Trek: Voyager. At that point in Star Trek history, the use of CG ships on screen was becoming more and more common. That means documenting all of those ships is no small task. “There are so many Delta Quadrant ships that we had to split it into two volumes,” Robinson said. “We’ve recorded everything we could about them along with some pretty stunning images."

Of course, no trip to the Delta Quadrant would be complete without a visit from the Borg. With the Borg featuring prominently in so many Star Trek series and films over the years, audiences have had the opportunity to see many different types of Borg ship, not just the typical (but menacing) Borg Cube. "Voyager introduced quite a variety from the peanut-shaped probe to the diamond-shaped Queen’s ship," Robinson said of Borg ships, adding, "You actually learn a fair amount about Borg ships on Voyager. Janeway had a bit of a thing for infiltrating them. We’ve got all of that in here and I think everyone will get a kick out of seeing some of those Borg interiors."
