JUNE 6, 2023 - With the comic book mini-series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - The Illyrian Enigma, IDW Publishing bridged the gap between seasons 1 and 2 of the hit Paramount+ show, weaving a tale that jumped off of Number One’s arrest at the end of season 1’s finale.

With less than two weeks until season 2 premieres, the comic publishers have announced a new mini-series, set to begin releasing a week after its finale. Entitled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - The Scorpius Run, the comic will be written by Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernandez. Beyer and Johnson team up frequently to pen comics that tie into currently-running Trek shows and Hernandez lent his talents to the Star Trek: Discovery - Aftermath mini-series, which utilized some of the SNW crew members.

The plot, according to IDW, is thus:

Come back to Strange New Worlds with a never-before-seen adventure of the hit Paramount+ show! Set course with Captain Pike and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise to the Scorpius constellation! As they venture into the unknown, the Enterprise crew learn what it truly means to traverse through the strange and unfamiliar when they lose contact with Starfleet and find themselves trapped in unexplored space!

It’s too early to tell if and how this latest graphic mini-series will reference events in season 2 of the television series but given the publishing company’s recent successes with not only the SNW tie-in but also their Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant ongoing series, as well as a host of other Trek-centric miniseries, it’s a good bet The Scorpius Run will be a hit.
