Jack Johnson, an illustrator on Star Trek: The Motion Picture, will receive a lifetime achievement award
A production illustrator for Star Trek: The Motion Picture is to be honored with a lifetime achievement award. Jack Johnson, who has worked as a production illustrator, concept artist or art director on dozens of films, will receive the award from the Art Directors Guild’s Illustrators and Matte Artists Council at the “Excellence in Production Design” Awards next February.
Some of Johnson’s recognizable projects, in addition to The Motion Picture are: Goonies, Edward Scissorhands, Pleasantville, Independence Day, and Beetlejuice.
Tim Wilcox, Chair of the Illustrators and Matte Artists Council, said of the announcement, “Jack's cinematic eye, combined with his amazing artistic talent, has been an integral part of over 60 critically acclaimed films in his over four decade career. We are thrilled to honor that legacy and his contributions to the Craft as this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.”
The 24th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards will be held at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
