Karl Urban confirms that a script is being written for Kelvin timeline's Star Trek 4
MAY 23, 2022 - How long has it been that the scuttlebutt has been circulating regarding the next Star Trek film…? That’s a rhetorical question, but it has been since February’s announcement by J. J. Abrams that there is going to be a new Kelvin Timeline film that it seems like it might actually happen.
While the cast members of the previous Kelvin films appeared to be taken completely by surprise by that announcement, they seem to be on board with the idea, including Karl Urban, who played Dr. Leonard McCoy in the earlier installments from that corner of the franchise. ComicBook.com is reporting on the latest “update” from Urban about the status of Star Trek 4. Yes, “update” is being used loosely here.
Urban confirms that the film is in development and a script is being written, but that he has yet to see it and knows nothing about it or the practical details, for example, when filming might start. Urban said, “All I know is they are developing it, they're writing a script, and I know one hundred percent that we all want to come back and do it.” He is the latest to say, along with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, that he would love to do the film and that it is just a matter of “logistics and timing at this point.”
