OCTOBER 31, 2022 - For a few months now we’ve been hearing more and more rumblings about a Star Trek: Janeway series as a possibility for the home of all things Trek Paramount+.

At NYCC, current showrunner Alex Kurtzman hinted that two series are currently in development.  One is based on Starfleet Academy and the Section 31 series that has likewise been in development for the past few years.

The fans are certainly happy to have Kate Mulgrew back as Janeway on Star Trek: Prodigy, but more and more, we are getting to the point that we’re going to be demanding a new live-action series with our beloved Delta Quadrant captain.

Whether it would be Star Trek: Janeway, or another series name, starring the (potentially) titular captain, nothing is certain.  However, Mulgrew has told Alex what would absolutely have to happen with the character and stories to get her back in the command chair.

“The writing is going to have to be absolutely exquisite and as tight—I mean so tight. I want that language to just burst! And I want the story to be so tenuous and taut. I said, “No languishing.” I don’t want peaks and valleys. I want a Janeway that everybody can say, “That’s what she’s become. I’m with her! This is great!” Right? And I think some sort of extraordinary adventure. Even greater than Voyager. Even greater than the Delta Quadrant.”

She also threw in one absolute deal breaker, no space bun hairstyle!
