Michelle Paradise's enigmatic tweet may indicate that filming has begun on Star Trek: Discovery season 5
JUNE 10, 2022 - The last we saw of our heroes from the 32nd century in Star Trek: Discovery was the end of season four back in March of this year. (Seems longer, doesn’t it…?.) Since then, the question has arisen as to when production would get underway on season five.
The season five renewal was announced in January, and now there might be some indication that production on the season is nearing. On Monday of this week, Michelle Paradise, DISCO’s executive producer – one might say it’s captain – tweeted a picture of the captain’s chair from the USS Discovery and said, “Hello, Toronto…. #StarTrekDiscovery.” Some names associated with Discovery are also listed on various sites that track media production in Ontario.
Toronto, Ontario is significant in that Pinewood Toronto Studios has been the filming location for DISCO, the production of which has used eight of the facility’s stages, according to Memory Alpha. It consists of twelve sound stages, a jumbo stage, and three back lots.
As of this writing, however, no official announcement of the start of production on Discovery season five has been made.
While we await further word on season five of Star Trek: Discovery, you can check out the first four seasons, streaming now on Paramount+.
