Mikayla Gingrey and Amir Hajirnia named as Fall 2021 Star Trek Command Training Program interns
SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 - The Television Academy Foundation and CBS Studios have announced two more interns chosen for the Star Trek Command Training Program. Mikayla Gingrey, a Loyola University student studying writing and television production, and Amir Hajirnia, a CSU Fullerton graduate who majored in Cinema and Television Arts, have been selected for the Fall 2021 internships.
Promising a unique opportunity, this paid internship is a 13-week program designed to provide selected interns with a “360-degree educational immersion in the production process of the Star Trek Universe.”
“This internship truly fulfills one of my lifetime dreams,” Gingrey said of being selected. “I’ve been a huge fan of Star Trek ever since I was a kid. Star Trek taught me how to dream of a brighter future, to embrace my curiosity in going beyond the expected, and to realize that our differences [are] what makes us stronger.”
Amir Hajirnia shared similar sentiments toward being selected, saying “Star Trek is incredibly close to my heart because I remember watching episodes of the original Star Trek series with my dad as a kid and seeing a future where anything was possible [...] Being part of the next generation of storytellers, I am humbled that I will be able to learn from the best in the industry.”
With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, Gingrey and Hajirnia will be working remotely. The pair began their internships September 7th and will continue into early December.
