NEW: The next Star Trek film has been pushed back from June to December 2023
NOVEMBER 11, 2021 - The upcoming Star Trek feature film, planned for a June 2023 release, has been delayed until December of that year, according to a report from Deadline.
The delay from Paramount will impact the release of two highly anticipated films: the new Star Trek film and Transformers: Rise of The Beasts. Originally slated for June 9th, 2023, the next installment of Star Trek will premiere on December 22nd, 2023. The premiere of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will move from June, 2022 to June 9, 2023 - a 50-week delay.
Not much is known about the next Star Trek film. In July, we found out that Matt Shakman (director, Wandavision) was tapped to direct, with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot producing. With writers Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet in place, the 2023 release will be the first film in franchise history to be written by women.
Details on the upcoming feature are slim, but you can be sure we will bring you the latest updates as they come in. While you wait, why not catch up on the earlier films in the Star Trek franchise? All 13 movies, along with every episode from every series, are now available to stream from Paramount+.
