Nickelodeon's Ramsey Naito expands role to add Paramount films animation and development
OCTOBER 7, 2021 - It’s been just four weeks since Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos stepped down from his leadership role, and the fallout from that move continues to shake up the power structures at Star Trek’s home studio. New CEO Brian Robbins is quickly making his presence known, expanding the role of Nickelodeon President of Animation Ramsey Naito to include feature films for Paramount. She will continue her responsibilities at Nickelodeon, and her new title will be President, Animation & Development, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, this according to Deadline.com.
Naito is best known to Star Trek fans as one of the creative minds behind the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy, and Robbins was effusive in his praise of her talents:
“Ramsey is one of the savviest executives and creative minds in our industry,” he said. “During her time at Nick, she has transformed and reinvigorated the Animation Studio division with her sharp business instincts, deep stable of relationships and unique eye for great storytelling, and I’m thrilled to have her bring her talents to this expanded role where she can further elevate our overall animation business.”
Ramsey will be taking the reins of the Paramount feature animation department from departing exec Mireille Soria, who becomes the second major exit of the Robbins era after the resignation of Emma Watts as President of the Paramount Motion Picture Group just two weeks ago.
In her short time as head of Nickelodeon Animation, Ramsey has already launched a number of successful projects for the department: PAW Patrol: The Movie, Baby Shark, Santiago of the Seas, and new iterations and spinoffs of SpongeBob Squarepants, Blue’s Clues, and Rugrats. Upcoming Paramount projects now under her purview include an animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature and a new animated Transformers series.
We at Daily Star Trek News wish Ramsey Naito all the best in her endeavors as we look forward to the launch of Star Trek: Prodigy on October 28th, streaming on Paramount+.
