Paramount+ offers new lower-priced, ad-supported subscription at $4.99/month
JUNE 6, 2021 - Beginning tomorrow, June 7th, Paramount+ is launching a new service plan with a lower price point. According to a report from Variety, for just $4.99 per month, subscribers will have access to the majority of content available from Paramount+ in an ad-supported format.
The new Paramount+ Essential Plan will bring subscribers nearly all of the same content as the “ad-free” Premium plan, which is currently offered for $9.99 per month. This will include CBS-broadcast NFL games as well as the UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues. Thankfully, the Essential Plan also includes Star Trek content, but local CBS stations will not be available for subscribers choosing this option. Those who subscribed to the ad-supported version on CBS All Access for $5.99/month prior to the launch of Paramount+ in March will be able to continue to use the service; and that plan does include local CBS channels.
The Paramount+ Essential Plan will still carry streaming options from across the ViacomCBS portfolio, including content from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures and the Smithsonian Channel. News through CBSN is also included in the package.
While the new service plan is aimed at attracting customers through it’s lower price, the Premium plan is still available for $9.99 per month, bringing audiences commercial-free content, 4K video support, greater access to sports, live streams, and local affiliate stations, as well as the option to download content to your mobile device.
The choice is yours. For more information on streaming plans, and to subscribe, visit paramountplus.com.
