Preview Star Trek: Prodigy "First Con-tact" with new images and a peek at a familiar alien species!
JANUARY 12, 2022 - Just a week after taking fans on a well-received journey of nostalgia, Star Trek: Prodigy is set to drop another episode this coming Thursday with another classic Trek connection for longtime fans. Preview images from the episode, entitled “First Con-tact,” reveal a Ferengi character named Nandi, voiced by animation veteran Grey Griffin. This entrepreneurial (to put it mildly) alien race first appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation in the 1987 episode “The Last Outpost,” and “First Con-tact” looks to give us our first significant Ferengi role since the finale of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1999.
The official logline for the episode reads, “When a mentor from Dal’s past persuades him to use their Federation cover for personal gain, they quickly discover Starfleet has protocols for a reason.” It’s clear that the Protostar’s encounter with this Ferengi is going to provide yet another opportunity to learn about the ways of the Federation and what it means to be a Starfleet crew, in keeping with Prodigy’s remit of introducing new and younger fans to the Star Trek ethos.
“First Con-tact” will be available Thursday on Paramount+. You can catch up on the first six episodes, available for streaming now.
