Preview Star Trek: Prodigy season 1 episode 3 "Starstruck" with teaser clip aired during The Ready Room
NOVEMBER 2, 2021 - Viewers of the Wil Wheaton-hosted The Ready Room were treated to a special sneak-peek of Star Trek: Prodigy’s second episode, “Starstruck,” after the Prodigy-themed episode that dropped last week. The previewed scene, running at just over a minute, shows Hologram Janeway settling into her role as mentor to the makeshift crew of the USS Protostar. It also shows how Prodigy embodies the desire of creators Kevin and Dan Hageman to create a “jumping off” point for kids who are not well-versed in the Star Trek universe.
In the clip, Hologram Janeway is explaining the purpose and mission of both the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet, highlighting the values of “universal liberty, rights, and equality.” This prompts a wistful reply from Rok-Tahk, who sighs, “Equality. That sounds nice.” The whole crew, in fact, seems enamored by Janeway’s hologram-enhanced description of the Federation, except for Dal. For reasons yet unknown, Dal is less eager to explore the seeming galactic nirvana of Federation space, and Zero’s attempts to find out why only seem to make things worse.
You can catch the preview at the end of the October 28th episode of The Ready Room. Star Trek: Prodigy’s second episode, “Starstruck,” streams Thursday on Paramount+.
