It’s something of a Hollywood old wives’ tale, but it seems as though Quentin Tarantino intends to make good on his promise to stop directing after 10 films - or maybe even 9.

In an interview with Australian GQ promoting his ninth and latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Tarantino said that he’s “come to the end of the road” in terms of directing. He said, “I see myself writing books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

Brad Pitt (no relation) backed up Tarantino’s words, saying “I think he’s dead serious.”

GQ points out that there are rumors still swirling about Tarantino possibly directing a new Star Trek film. But at the same time, they claim that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is “peak Tarantino”. So will that 10th film ever get made? Tarantino said, “if [Once Upon a Time in Hollywood]’s really well received, maybe I won’t go to 10. Maybe I’ll stop right now! Maybe I’ll stop while I’m ahead. We’ll see.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is due to be released on July 26th...and I’m starting to think I shouldn’t hold my breath for Star Trek 4.
