Report: William Shatner files for divorce from fourth wife, Elizabeth

William Shatner is - reportedly - getting divorced. Shatner, 88, is currently married to his fourth wife, Elizabeth, 61; they were wed in 2001.

A piece from TMZ yesterday reported that Shatner filed for divorce after having separated as of February 1, 2019. Sources told TMZ that the divorce is expected to go through quickly, since the couple has a pre-nuptial agreement and no children together. Sources also said that as per the terms of the prenup, neither party will receive spousal support from the other.

According to Wikipedia, Shatner has been married three times before: he was married to Gloria Rand (with whom he had three children) from 1956 to 1969, Marcy Lafferty from 1973 to 1996, and Nerine Kidd from 1997 until her tragic death in 1999. Kidd sadly died from accidental drowning related to alcohol abuse. Elizabeth Anderson Martin, Shatner’s current wife, was married once before.

TMZ says that celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser is representing Shatner in the proceedings. Laura Wasser was reportedly the inspiration for the character of Nora Fanshaw in Wedding Story, for which Laura Dern recently earned a Golden Globe nomination.
