ROUNDUP: What Do the Fans Really Think of 'Star Trek: Picard'? YouTube Might Have the Answer
APRIL 12, 2023 - With two episodes left in the final season of Star Trek Picard, several YouTube personalities have discussed their thoughts about the new season and what to expect in the remaining episodes.
Milwaukee-based YouTube channel RedLetterMedia is no stranger to Star Trek fandom. They have released videos reviewing Star Trek: The Next Generation for years. On at least one occasion developed their own version of what became Star Trek: Picard that they referred to as Star Trek: Galaxy. Last week, the channel released their review of episodes 5, 6, and 7.
“It’ll determine everything. The final act… I don’t know and I hate that I don’t know,” Rich Evans, one of the two reviewers stated regarding episodes 8, 9, and 10. Co-host Mike Stoklasa and Evans have previously spoken favorably about the first four episodes of the season.
Another YouTuber known for Star Trek content, Steve Shives spoke with The Ensign’s Log podcast creator Jason Harding in their review of episode 8.
“With the exception of a few episodes this season that I have enjoyed. I haven’t really liked Picard. If other people have enjoyed it more than I have, that’s great,” Shives said as Harding raised his hand affirming his own favorable opinion of season 3.
“I’m really losing patience with the Jack thing. We said this exact thing last week, hopefully next week they pay off the Jack thing,” Shives said.
“Hopefully that payoff hits at the right time and everybody’s theories including my own are wrong. Who knows maybe the Traveler walks out…” Harding said jokingly.
“I would love for whatever is behind the door… I would love for whoever is behind the Frontier Day thing… All the stuff they have yet to reveal. I would love for it to be shit that we have never seen before,” Shives continued.
Notable Trektube channel Trekyards hosts Stuart Foley (also referred to as Captain Foley) and co-host Samuel Cockings (also referred to as Commander Cockings) also reviewed episode 8.
“I thought we were going to end on Romulans, Dominion, or one frame or visual then cut… Now, the payoff has to be even better. It has to be something credible or it’s not going to play,” Cockings said in response to the episode’s cliffhanger.
“How many times have we had the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ ‘Fire’ and then the next episode fizzles out? Is that going to be the case here?” Foley responded.
This is only a tiny glimpse into the thoughts of Star Trek fandom as two episodes remain of the final season of Star Trek: Picard.
