SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 - From Nichelle Nichols at the beginning of Star Trek to Star Trek: Discovery’s Sonequa Martin-Green and everywhere in between, women have been portrayed in, created, and been influenced by Star Trek. An upcoming book is going to tell some of their stories.

One of those women, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Kira Nerys, Nana Visitor, is writing the book and announced it in a video on StarTrek.comA Woman’s Trek will look at the role of women in front of and behind the camera and how it has changed over the last 55 years. Visitor says, “Each Star Trek has both reflected the culture of its time and imagined a more equitable future. How much did we affect the culture? How much did the culture form us? What did we get right, what held us back, what stories do we need to tell now?”
