It wasn’t just the Emmys where Star Trek: Discovery picked up a few nominations. When the Saturn Award nominations were announced on Monday - Discovery had been named for 5, across three categories.

TrekMovie.com came through with the rundown of the nominations: Discovery was nominated for Best Streaming Science Fiction, Action or Fantasy Series, and Sonequa Martin-Green was nominated for Best Actress in a Streaming Presentation. In the category of Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Presentation, three of Discovery’s stars picked up nominations: Wilson Cruz, for his role as Dr. Hugh Culber, Doug Jones as Saru, and Ethan Peck as Spock. In 2018, Discovery was also nominated for 5 awards, of which it won 2, including Best New Media Television Series.

The Saturn Awards are given out annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. They honor the best in genre entertainment. According to TrekMovie, “The 45th annual Saturn Awards will take place on Friday, September 13, 2019, at the historic Avalon Theater in Hollywood, California. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has also announced a new multi-year partnership deal with veteran television producer Justin W. Hochberg as part of a new revitalization of the Saturn Awards and for the first time since the one-time TV airing in 1978, it will be available to global fans via a streaming partner to be announced shortly.”
