Nichelle Nichols Foundation: Hailing Frequencies Open: Saturday, January 21

Following up on Tuesday’s launch of To Boldly Go, join Star Trek: Prodigy’s Bonnie Gordon as well as the book’s author and illustrator for a discussion of To Boldly Go and Nichelle Nichols’ legacy. The free virtual event is happening Saturday at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET on YouTube.

Armin Shimerman Masterclass: Saturday, January 21

There is currently a waitlist for Shakespeare’s Rhetoric with Armin Shimerman, a virtual masterclass in which Shimerman delves into Shakespeare’s style and the different literary devices and strategies he used in his plays. Class begins at 10:00 a.m. PT, and more details, including the waitlist signup, are available from the Antaeus Theatre Company.

William Shatner Virtual Q&A: Saturday, January 21

GalaxyCon is hosting another livestream Q&A with William Shatner, at 12:00 p.m. ET. Opportunities also exist for one-on-one chats and autographs on a variety of items. The deadline to order the latter is 11:59 p.m. ET Saturday.

Starship Edsel: An Improvised Star Trek Satire: Beginning Saturday, January 21

Starship Edsel is a Star Trek inspired farce set aboard the Federation Starship Edsel towards the end of the 24th century. It is based upon a LARP written and developed by Brandon Brylawski, who is also a producer and head writer on this show. Performances begin Saturday at 10:00 p.m. CT and recur through October at the Otherworld Theatre, in Chicago. Get all the skinny at Eventbrite.

House of Mouse Expo: Friday, January 20 – Sunday, January 22

Join Doug Jones and Lee Arenberg at the House of Mouse Expo, taking place this weekend at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South, in Kissimmee, Florida.

Oregon Symphony: Star Wars vs. Star Trek: Saturday, January 21 & Sunday, January 22

Join the symphony for music from the two franchises, from John Williams’ iconic Star Wars main theme and “Imperial March” to music from The Wrath of Khan to the newest Star Trek films. Performances take place at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, in Portland. Get your tickets from the Oregon Symphony.

·These are the Twitter watchalongs:

o   #allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.

o   #TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of The Original Series every week, and

o   #StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.

·Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.

·Speaking of a Star Trek watch party: the iBlind Users Group hosts Trekkie Talk on the first and third Thursdays of every month. They watch an audio descriptive version of a Star Trek episode and get together virtually to discuss it. To find out how to join in, visit ibugtoday.com/trekkie-talk.

·But wait, there’s more watch partying: Club IDIC hosts a weekly watch party and discussion at 6pm Alberta Time every Friday. The schedule and Zoom links are available at the Club IDIC Facebook page.

·To Proudly Go, a New York-based nonprofit, will be hosting Star Trek: Picard season three viewing parties each Saturday, beginning February 18. The gatherings begin at 6:00pm ET at the Barracuda Lounge in New York City. Tickets are free, and vaccination is required. The viewing parties / fundraiser benefits also include Star Trek trivia games, special Star Trek-themed drag performances, two-for-one drinks, fabulous Star Trek prizes, and merchandise. ·Virtual Trek Con presents The Main Viewer every Tuesday - a live discussion show on YT with occasional special guests and an open chat geared towards fan interaction.

·Disco Does DnD - livestream DnD game with DSC actors on Twitch, every Sunday at 1pmPT/4pmET.

· Join Grey Havens Philosophy and Outworld Brewing every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. as they discuss the big ideas inspired by Star Trek. The gatherings are at Outworld Brewing, in Longmont, Colorado. Attendance is free, but an RSVP for planning purposes is appreciated at Eventbrite.

·And finally, there’s Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website. They meet twice monthly on the first Tuesday and third Friday of every month, with occasional pop-up meetings with Sid as his schedule allows.
