Star Trek: Prodigy Wins a Prestigious Award
DECEMBER 13, 2022 - Last month we reported here that Star Trek: Prodigy was up for a NATAS award. More than 3000 shows were under consideration for this award, with 7 gaining the awards, and we are now delighted to announce that “We have a winner!”
As 2022 rapidly draws to a close, our favorite series gain yet another win for great television. PROO joins Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (as we reported yesterday) with great recognition of the work that they do.
Alessandro Taini, was awarded ‘Production Designer’ for the work on Star Trek: Prodigy, from Paramount+. The awards were given under the following consideration.
The category is unique in its judging process: Panels of expert animation peers evaluate the work of talented individual artists and animators, with submissions drawn from a single episode of a series or a special. Judges view and evaluate original artwork, video and other documentation from the disciplines of Background, Character Animation, Character Design, Color, Production Design and Storyboard. They consequently convene to discuss the detail and finer points of each submission in order to determine winners.
Members of the Television Academy Animation peer group brought particular dedication, working long and tirelessly to bring their experience and expertise to this exhaustive but wonderful judging process. They were impressed with the submissions, and are thrilled to see a continued high quality of work originating from this industry,” said Brent Stanton, Head of the Children’s and Family Emmys.
Those who’ve followed DSTN, and have known me since August of this year are by now fully aware that Star Trek: Prodigy is my favorite Nu Trek series of them all. They are innovative, the stories are thought provoking, have many nods to the familiar, and the great Kate Mulgrew is back as Janeway!
