Star Trek: The Animated Series is leaving Netflix next month.

A piece from Comicbook.com notes that the show’s page on Netflix says it is “Available Until 12/01/2019”, meaning that it will leave the streaming service at the end of November. Other Star Trek series don’t appear to be subject to the same fate, however, since The Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise all appear to be remaining where they are. Comicbook.com also notes that The Animated Series is still available on Amazon Prime Video at the moment, although that is of course no guarantee that it will stay there.

It’s worth noting at this point that all Star Trek series, including The Animated Series, and the newest series, Discovery and Short Treks, are all currently available on CBS All Access, and are expected to be, for the foreseeable future. Expanding its streaming services is a key initiative for CBS, and will continue to be, even after it merges with Viacom next month. However, even that is no indicator that CBS will pull other Star Trek properties from other services; another of the combined ViacomCBS’s key strategic initiatives is to be “a leading producer and licensor of premium content to third-party platforms globally.” Combining their own service with licensing content to other services appears to be a model that works for them.

But for now, if you’re a fan of The Animated Series, or just had it on your list to binge “when you have the time”, you have just a few weeks left to either watch it on Netflix, or switch to another service.
