Star Trek: The Next Generation cast reunite over Zoom for Marina Sirtis’ 65th birthday
The cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation reunited yesterday - remotely - for a very important cause. It was Marina Sirtis’ 65th birthday.
On Monday afternoon, Sirtis posted a picture on Twitter, a snapshot of herself and her former castmates on a Zoom call together. She captioned the picture, “I have the best friends in the world. Considering everything, this was the best birthday present. #TNGRules.”
On the call with Sirtis were Sir Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Wil Wheaton, Brent Spiner, and Gates McFadden. The others on the call also posted similar pictures from their points of view. Burton said, “Overcoming the distance…#family”. McFadden said, “different shot, but same amazing group. What a blast it was to chat away....and laugh. felt so good”. Wheaton’s wife Anne joined in on the comments as well, saying, “I loved hearing Wil laughing with all of you. Happy birthday, sweet lady.”
Wil Wheaton also expanded on the experience on his Facebook page: “This whole pandemic is hard on everyone, in a lot of different ways,” he said. “Yesterday, LeVar organized a Zoom thingy for all of us from TNG, because normally we would be together for Marina's birthday, but obviously we can't do that this year. For about 90 minutes or so, we all hung out, visited with each other, loved each other, and felt connected, as a family. [...] Wherever you are, I hope you're getting the love and support that you need and deserve. We're all going to get through this, together.”
Please join me in wishing Marina Sirtis a very happy - if belated - birthday.
