Star Trek: Voyager Guest Actor John Aniston Dies
NOVEMBER 16, 2022 - John Aniston, who was known for his longtime role on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, and the father of Friends star Jennifer Aniston, died on November 11, 2022, at the age of 89.
He appeared in close to 3000 episodes of the daytime drama and worked up until the end, with his final episodes airing in December of this year. This past June, Aniston was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Daytime Emmys.
He amassed several screen credits from TV series throughout the 70’s–2000’s in many roles, such as Airwolf, Mission Impossible, The West Wing, My Big Fat Greek Life, Gilmore Girls, Mad Men, Diagnosis Murder, and many, many more.
Star Trek fans might remember him from when he appeared in the Star Trek: Voyager two-part episodes “Workforce” as the Quarren Ambassador. It was a minor yet vital role.
“Workforce” is noted as having one of the more “immediate-punch” beginnings in the series, where most of the lead characters begin the episode on the planet Quarra, believing they are Quarrens with no memory of their lives aboard Voyager.
When it’s eventually revealed Captain Janeway and the others were kidnapped and used as slave labor, John Aniston’s character boards the USS Voyager to apologize.
John Aniston was born in Greece, on the Isle of Crete, and his family moved to the United States when he was only two years old. His first screen acting credit is in a 1962 episode of 87th Precinct.
