Star Trek: Voyager's Kate Mulgrew responds to fan's concern for the timeline

The Janeway Monument in Bloomington, Indiana

AUGUST 17, 2022 - One of the most remarkable things about Star Trek fans is their ability to get along with each other.  While other genres often divide into “who would win in a fight, Captain__ or Captain__? or “who’s the better…?” arguments, Trek fans always seem to be at peace with one another.

I have fond memories of The Star Trek Experience at The Las Vegas Hilton when it was there.  It was not uncommon to see a Seven of Nine cosplayer (who looked like she could be Jeri Ryan’s stand-in), conversing with a 400-pound Vulcan wearing glasses, and both were completely comfortable in one another’s presence.

But not just the fans are able to mingle and sometimes poke a little well-intended fun, but so are the stars.

Bloomington, Indiana has a bust of Katherine Janeway, the iconic captain of the U.S.S. Voyager, of Star Trek: Voyager.  When Ms. Mulgrew announced that she’ll be in town visiting her bust on Sunday, October 23 of this year, a particular fan’s response went viral.

In short, they’re concerned that Janeway visiting the Janeway bust hundreds of years before the captain’s birth (in her hometown) may have negative consequences on the timeline, possibly costing the lives of billions of Federation citizens, as yet unborn.

In response, the stalwart Captain (Kate Mulgrew) responded in an equally stoic fashion.

“I solemnly promise to not cause any temporal anomalies when I visit my statue in Bloomington this October. The @JanewayCollect1 is on alert and ready to handle any casualty loops before they occur,” she replied on Twitter.

It’s wonderful to see the stars having as much fun as we fans and eager to play along, just for the pure joy of camaraderie.

Captain Janeway can be watched in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Prodigy, both streaming on Paramount+. And for more details on the upcoming visit, warp on over to CINEMA BLEND the read the entire article.
