Star Trek’s Gates McFadden, Robert Picardo and Kate Mulgrew all get second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
FEBRUARY 21, 2021 - At least three Star Trek stars have now had their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Following on from our stories of Sir Patrick Stewart and others getting their vaccines in late January, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Gates McFadden and Star Trek: Voyager’s Robert Picardo and Kate Mulgrew have all announced their booster shots.
McFadden kicked off the news on Sunday, when she posted on Twitter, “Today is second dose #COVIDVaccine for @RobertPicardo in one city and moi in another. We are #SoLucky #ofcourse and #obviously #SoOld”

Picardo replied to her, saying, “#SoOld ? I’ve merely reconfigured my facial appearance parameters to appear over 65 in order to get vaccinated. [Of course, holograms don’t require vaccines, so I didn’t really think this through. Never mind.]” Then Kate Mulgrew, Picardo’s captain on Voyager, weighed in to say, “I’m getting my second one tomorrow! Cheers, Doctors!“

Picardo separately posted a picture of himself getting the jab, saying, “#2 and done! : I am a Pfully Pfizered Pfellow. [...] #COVIDVaccine protocol complete.”

All three stars are effectively using their celebrity to promote adoption of the COVID-19 vaccine for those who are eligible. Most states are currently prioritizing people over the age of 65, which all three are: McFadden is 71, Picardo is 67, and Mulgrew is 65. Make sure to check your state’s eligibility requirements for the vaccine ASAP.
