The Hageman Brothers and Brett Gray Drop More Hints About What's To Come In Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2

STAR TREK: PRODIGY title card.

JANUARY 5, 2023 - After a first season of 20 episodes, Star Trek: Prodigy has run its first course.

We saw Hologram Janeway sacrifice herself and the Protostar to save the kids and help them reach their dreams; we saw Dal ready to sacrifice himself for his crew so that they could survive to join Starfleet, and later saw him accept that as an augment, he wouldn’t be allowed to join the Federation, but encouraged his team to go on anyway, just to find out that Admiral Janeway got him in.

The series also treated viewers to legacy Trek characters such as Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Chakotay (Robert Beltran), the still ‘outrageous’ Okona (Billy Campbell), and (now) Admiral Jellico (Ronny Cox).

In a video feature released by Paramount+, Dan and Kevin Hageman talked about big plans for season 2, and Kevin teased that there are more legacy stars on the way, meaning there will be more familiar faces for longtime fans.

How will things change for the kids in season two?  Well, the kid-friendly holographic Janeway is gone.  They now have a real-life, no-nonsense Janeway, and since they’ll be on a new ship, they probably won’t interact with her as much as they did with HJ.

But… more legacy characters were promised, so, hopefully, the kids will get to spend some time with them.

Dan also spoke about how their roles on Janeway’s ship are part of their goal to get into Starfleet Academy; “They’ve still got more hills to climb to get to that place they want now that they’ve tasted it they want it. They’re more like cadets-in-training, but they’re not Starfleet Academy.”

Actor Brett Gray spoke about how things would be different for his character, Dal, onboard the new ship.  Stating that Dal has gone from being the captain of his own ship to becoming one of many beings looking for their place in the universe.  Has he really sacrificed his ego so as to become a member of the team?

We’ve already been promised that we’ll be on the edge of our seats for every character in season two. We’re already counting down the days until we hear the next announcement.
