The Orville's Chad Coleman looks forward to season 3, calls it "jaw-dropping"

The Orville: New Horizons

MARCH 16, 2022 - With the third season of The Orville still more than two months away, series regular Chad Coleman wants fans to know they are in for a real treat. Speaking with Express in an interview published last week, Coleman, who plays the Moclan Klyden on the series, promised an exciting third season for the crew of the U.S.S. Orville - a season he calls “jaw-dropping”.

Halfway through filming season three, production halted on the popular Trek-alike series. After a nine-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming resumed. Now in post-production and promising a June premiere, Coleman is looking forward to the long-awaited release, and he knows it’s going to be huge.

“It’s the best,” Coleman told Express. “Honestly. It feels like if we never get the chance to do this again, we better do every damn thing we can.”

Citing “serious drama for Klyden that’s going to shake people”, Coleman said, "This season is going to be jaw-dropping, for real. Incredibly epic [...] The special effects - everything is bigger and better. If you never see us again, you’ll never forget us.”

“Bigger and better” is right. Following a New York Comic Con panel in 2019, Co-Producer Tom Costantino confirmed season three episodes are expected to be 12-15 minutes longer than prior seasons.

Outside of The Orville, Chad Coleman is known for his roles on several hit shows, including The Wire, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Walking Dead. He has also lent his voice to the world of animation, joining Star Trek veterans Michael Dorn, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Zachary Quinto on the series Invincible.

Season three of The Orville premieres on Hulu June 2nd, 2022.
