Today in Star Trek history: Harry Mudd actor Roger C. Carmel dies (1986)
It was today, November 11th, back in 1986, that Roger C. Carmel, the actor who played Harry Mudd in The Original Series and The Animated Series, passed away due to a heart attack. He was just 54 years old.
Carmel played Harry Mudd in a total of three Star Trek episodes. But outside of Star Trek, his resume was extensive. His IMDb page boasts 83 acting credits between 1958 and 1987. He appeared on shows such as The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mothers-in-Law, as well as the live-action Batman series with Adam West. In later life, he found success as a voice actor in animated series such as The Transformers and Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears. He was also occasionally the voice of Smokey Bear, the mascot for the U.S. Forest Service’s long-running Wildfire Prevention Campaign.
