APRIL 18, 2023 - There are some great new characters in season 3 of Star Trek: Picard. Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut’s Sidney LaForge is a favorite, as is Jack Crusher, played by Ed Speleers. In a somewhat surprising revelations, Todd Stashwick’s Shaw was named the favorite captain of the season, beating out Picard and Riker. In fact, people had high hopes that a spin-off series would follow the USS Titan, as commanded by Shaw. Well, we’ve got some bad news for you.

If you’ve seen episode 9 of the current season of Picard, then you know there won’t be a spin-off involving Shaw. To coin a phrase, “He’s dead, Jim.” (And as we know, nobody in science fiction ever comes back from the dead.)

Stashwick commented on the character’s demise in an interview with ComicBook.com. “I would be remiss to say that it didn’t hurt a little bit,” he confessed. “understanding that it serves a greater story, and then we are here to tell good stories. And karmically, there is a full circle to this, where Shaw gets to repay the debt that was given to him early in his career.”

Stashwick was asked to share his favorite memories of working on Picard. “I loved shooting the Wolf 359 monologue. The support that I was given and the copy was pretty incredible. And my scene partners with Ed and Patrick, and then Jonathan behind the camera, that was a very special day.”

There was much more in the interview and you can read the whole thing at ComicBook.com. And if you want to catch up on the whole series, click the link below. If you sign up for Paramount+ by 4/30, using the coupon code PICARD, you’ll get a free month.
