Upcoming Playmobil Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise mega-playset: new images and details!
AUGUST 22, 2021 - It might not quite be the 11-foot U.S.S. Enterprise studio model from Star Trek: The Original Series, which you might have seen at the National Air & Space Museum, but we reported back in June on an upcoming buildable model you can actually play with, and now there are some more details to share.
The Trek Collective reported back on August 11th that the new Enterprise playset from toymaker Playmobil, which will be out next month, is being further marketed with new images of the beloved NCC-1701 and its accessories.
We get a better look, for example, at the figures of Captain Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Dr McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov.
Other images show the optional suspension display kit deployed, with cables meeting above the model at a Star Trek delta, above which a single cable attaches to the ceiling. In addition, a new banner promo shows the ship from the front.
For a view all around the model, a 360-degree video shows the Enterprise rotating with some of the lighting features on and the panels removed exposing the bridge and engineering play areas with crew figures at their stations. The model is displayed using the alternative tabletop option, with delta shield base.
Finally, a set of still images show adult friends gathered around letting out their inner kids, playing with the model. These images give a sense of the scale of the model and show digital devices in use, controlling some of the model’s features and displaying other content.
The Enterprise playset will be available September 15, and you can preorder it now from retailers including Entertainment Earth.
