Virtual Trek Con 2 kicks off TODAY with 5 days of Star Trek events
OCTOBER 15, 2020 - Virtual Trek Con 2 is ON! The monumental virtual Star Trek convention by the team behind The 7th Rule podcast kicks off today, and runs through Monday. It’s a full five days of cast and crew interviews, fan interactions, special performances and surprise announcements.
It all starts this morning at 10:30am PT with The Promenade. It’s a virtual vendor’s room, with a HUGE breadth of vendors, just like an in-person con. Some of the highlights: Armin Shimerman will have a virtual “booth” promoting his new book, Illyria: Betrayal of Angels; FanSets with their huge and growing collection of official Star Trek enamel pins; and believe it or not, Daily Star Trek News will be there too. The Promenade changes times over the weekend, so be sure to check out the schedule on virtualtrekcon.com, and mark your calendars for today at 10:30am PT, and Saturday at 8am PT if you’d like to come and chat with us.
The official opening ceremony for the con is taking place later today, at 1:30pm PT, with 7th Rule hosts Cirroc Lofton and Ryan T. Husk. That’s followed at 3pm PT by an interview with Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan.
Other highlights of the weekend include the Diversity in Star Trek panel on Friday, a Discovery panel featuring Doug Jones and David Benjamin Tomlinson on Saturday, a Deep Space Nine panel on Sunday with several of the series’ stars, and a performance by The Improvised Generation on Monday. Our sister podcast, Women at Warp, will also be hosting a special panel on Friday at 3pm PT called “Female Friendships on the Final Frontier”.
