DECEMBER 1, 2022 - The second half of season one of Star Trek: Prodigy, comprising episodes 11 – 20, is currently streaming on Paramount+, and fans of the show have even more to rejoice about.
The first season of Star Trek: Prodigy will have a total of 20 episodes. The first ten streamed from October 2021 to February of this year. Now Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment have officially announced the release of the first ten episodes as “Volume 1” of the first season for release on Blu-ray and DVD, beaming down to a retailer near you on January 3, 2023. The 3D animated series aimed at younger audiences have drawn high marks among many fans for its high production values and smart stories that respect Star Trek lore.
The show begins in the Delta Quadrant with a group of alien kids being forced to provide slave labor when they stumble upon an abandoned Starfleet ship (the experimental USS Protostar) and use it to escape their situation and then set off on adventures. They secure help from the onboard Janeway Emergency Training Hologram, (voiced by Star Trek: Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew) who at first believes them to be Starfleet cadets. She later discovers that they are not, but is impressed with their honest and impeccable drive to become the best that they can be, and continues to mentor them all the same.
