Which Is Better, Star Wars or Star Trek? Nicolas Cage Has the Answer!

JANUARY 10, 2023 - He has been a corrupt cop, an angel, a prisoner–hijacker, a neurotic dweeb, a Hollywood punk, a paramedic, a vampire, a con man, a mountain man, a cowboy, a treasure hunter, a singer, a suicidal alcoholic, a screenwriter, Superman and Spider-Man (in voice).

But when Nick Cage was recently asked by @djkevlar - Kevin Polowy if he’d like to be a Jedi Knight, his response was immediate and enthusiastic;

No is the answer. I'm not really down. I'm a Trekkie, man. I'm (into) Star Trek. I'm on the Enterprise. That's where I roll.  That's a fact. I grew up watching Shatner. I thought Pine was terrific in the movies. I think the movies are outstanding. I like the political, and the sociological... to me, what science fiction is really all about, and why it's such an important genre, is that is really where you can say whatever you want, however you feel. You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time, or in the future, and you can without people just jumping on you. You can really express your thoughts... and Star Trek really embraced that. I thought they got into some serious stuff.  I'm not in the Star Wars family. I'm in the Star Trek family.

He is a genuine fan of the series of series. He likes the original to the JJ Abrahms rebooted movies. He stated that Star Trek better represents the use of a medium to talk about socio-political issues than does the laser sword-swinging “other guys”.

So, can we add Starfleet officer to the above list of roles in the near future?  As much as he’d deserve to be an Admiral right out of the gate, I personally would love to see him as a captain on a flagship vessel, leading a stalwart crew into and out of danger.

Do I hear pencils scribing toward a letter campaign?
