NOVEMBER 11, 2022 - Last week Paramount+ treated us with the beginning of a series of Star Trek Logs  on Instagram. Each new entry comes directly from Vice Admiral Janeway (voiced by Kate Mulgrew) following the events that happened in the previous week’s episode. They are written by Star Trek: Prodigy lead writer Aaron Waltke who tells us that they offer “new clues, lore, and Trek canon.”

In the newest log, from episode 12, “Let Sleeping Borg Lie”, Admiral Janeway briefs us on the situation with an update on Dr. Noum’s treatment for the Diviner that draws an interesting connection to a classic race from Star Trek: The Next Generation

Information from the log reveals that Dr. Noum believes the Diviner’s “physiology may possess energy-based psychokinesis, which is very similar to some Zalkonians.”  For die-hard Trek-oligists, the Zalkonians are a race that the USS Enterprise-D encountered in the TNG episode “Transfigurations.” The Enterprise crew found that some Zalkonians were undergoing a process where they would transform into energy beings. It’s possible there is some connection or parallel with the Vau N’Akat.”

Time will tell, but we love all of the little nostalgic Easter eggs that PRO is throwing in for us each week.  Keep them coming.
