James Darren, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Vic Fontaine, is recovering from COVID-19
James Darren, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s holographic crooner Vic Fontaine, is recovering from COVID-19.
George Hollo, the admin for the James Darren fan page on Facebook, posted an update yesterday morning saying, “Please send all your healing thoughts for Jimmy. He tested positive for COVID-19. He's been recovering for 11 days and is expected to make a full recovery but is staying home while he heals.”
Later in the day, Ira Steven Behr, Deep Space Nine showrunner, retweeted Star Trek Eire, who sent their well wishes to the 84-year-old actor. Behr, in his retweet, said, “Just spoke with Jimmy. He’s a fighter. He’s on the recovery road but all you @StarTrek @startrekcbs @DS9Doc folks out there should say a prayer or two just to keep all bases covered. We love you, Jimmy.”

Fan response to the messages was swift and full of both concern and good wishes. Darren, for his part, does appear to be coping well with the illness; yesterday afternoon, he posted on his own Facebook page that he was “feeling thankful” and “Feels much better.”
Please join me in sending best wishes for a speedy recovery to James Darren.
