Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have been deepfaked into Star Trek
Billionaires Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have been deepfaked into an episode of Star Trek.
YouTube channel The Fakening posted a video on Tuesday consisting of a one-minute clip from the original Star Trek pilot, “The Cage”. In the video, the role of Talosian is played by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Jeffrey Hunter’s Captain Pike has been replaced by Elon Musk. They play out one of the last scenes of the episode, where the Talosians deem humans “too dangerous” for their needs, and condemn themselves to extinction.
The video’s description reads: “In the not too distant future Elon Musk will save us from the captivity of Jeff Bezos' Amazon illusion.” It’s not clear whether the video is some kind of political statement, or just a bit of fun. The Fakening’s other videos include one where Keanu Reeves replaces characters in Forrest Gump, one where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson replaces the live-action Dora the Explorer, and one where Elon Musk (again, a recurring favorite) replaces William Shatner in a lounge version of the Captain Kirk actor singing Elton John’s “Rocketman”.
