Legendary comic artist Richard Corben has died at 80

DECEMBER 11, 2020 - The creator of the comic “Fever Dreams”, on which the upcoming independent film To Meet the Faces You Meet was based, has passed away. In a statement yesterday, Parallax Studios, his longtime collaborators, said, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we report the passing of legendary artist and dear friend Richard Corben, who died on the morning of December 2nd following heart surgery. He was a passionate, creative soul, and we are grateful not only to have known him, but to have had the privilege of working with him for over 20 years.” Corben was 80 years old.

Here on Daily Star Trek News, we’ve been bringing you the story of To Meet the Faces You Meet, his latest project, which stars Robert Picardo, Patrick Warburton, and Patton Oswalt. Parallax Studios, who are producing the film, are currently raising money to finalize it.

Of the film’s production in the wake of Corben’s death, Parallax Studio said, “Though Corben viewed several early versions of the film, our one regret is that he will not be able to see the finished film with all of the actors in place. Nevertheless, we look forward to bringing this final collaboration to life and for the opportunity to share Corben’s genius with the world once more. Godspeed, Richard. We’ll miss you.”

Outside of “Fever Dreams” and To Meet the Faces You Meet, Corben was known as the artist behind the iconic cover of Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell album, as well as a prolific contributor to Heavy Metal magazine.
