MEME REVIEW MONDAY: Trojan Trek, Bad Baggins, and More

Hello! Happy Meme Review Monday! I hope you all had a splendid week. I know you’ve been eagerly awaiting this week’s meme review so let’s jump right in!

First up we have a meme from @heymurada on Tumblr. 

This is exactly what watching TOS for the first time felt like for me. My first Star Trek was DISCO followed by TNG. TNG does not have that many queer undertones so I didn’t think that TOS would be gay at all. I assumed it was a collective fandom delusion. I was so wrong. Spirk is practically canon.

Next up we have a meme sent to me by the meme maestro herself, Mala. 

Mala was our first ever Fandom Friday participant. If you want to read about her and her amazing life as well as where she gets her epic memes you can click here. This meme is so goofy and surprisingly well edited. I quite like it. It came with a sister meme with the caption “William T. Biker.” William T. Biker, as you can probably guess, was a photo of Johnathan Frakes’ face on a biker.

Next up we have a meme from @leela_small on Tumblr.

This is often how I feel. Star Trek allows many people to forget about the struggles of life for at least a 40 minute increment. Spock sparks a lot of joy in my heart as I’m sure he does others. I quite like how stoic Spock looks in this meme. He knows he is making everyone’s day better.

Next up we have a meme from @trilled-to-meet-you on Tumblr.

I’ve seen this meme format a lot on the depths of Tumblr and I love it. Poor Julian cannot get any women to like him. However, I do quite like the Julian and Garak ship. I think it’s very cute.

Next up we have a meme from @robintreks on instagram.

When I first saw this meme I thought to myself “I don’t do that,” however, less than a day later I did this exact thing. I showed this to my friend and he informed me that I do in fact do this quite a lot. Apparently I simply cannot resist incessantly bringing up Star Trek.

Next up we have a meme from @autumn-trekking on Tumblr.

This meme was actually a GIF with the hearts animating out of Jim’s head, however I think the message still gets across with just this screenshot. I know this isn’t a very in depth meme however I believe this is exactly what goes on in Kirk’s head all the time and thus I had to include it.

Next up we have a meme from @robintreks on Instagram.

I am a huge Ru Paul’s Drag Race fan and I loved this meme. I really like the images that were chosen for Kirk and Spock’s judging faces. I would love to see a Star Trek-themed Drag Race episode. I think it would be perfect. However, the contestants probably shouldn’t Kobayashi Maru for their life as one of them does have to beat the others and the no win scenario of the Kobayashi Maru makes that a bit difficult.

Finally, we have a meme made by yours truly. 

Though this isn’t technically a Star Trek meme I decided to include it. I recently watched Nimoy’s cover of “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” and it is a fever dream. I don’t understand why that was made or how someone thought it was good enough to make, however I’m happy it exists.
